SRF is implementing these 2 million trees annually under the program Mama Kanituma, Africa Go Green campaign to contribute efforts on climate mitigation and strengthen climate-resilience of tourism-reliant communities leveraging youth power for inclusive socio-economic development in East Africa piloting Tanzania in Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar archipelagos, Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Manyara, Tanga, Mwanza, Iringa, Mtwara, Mbeya, and Dodoma. Ensuring growth and project sustainability, we work with Schools through Clubs and Institutions, i.e. religious, governments, companies, etc.
- SRF has received trees, mainly shade trees, from the Tanzania Forest Services Agency (TFS). However, the demand from schools and institutions has been on fruit trees. Also, SRF has struggled to transfer trees to all locations with high demand outside Dar es Salaam and other costs related to tree management and outreach for awareness creation.
